Ten years ago, Leslie Hutchens began apprenticing at a local salon in Columbia, Maryland on the advice of a friend and started her on a career path that led her to Brooklyn. While working in the industry in Maryland, Leslie developed her own, unique approach to cutting hair and was an educator for the mega brand, Sexy Hair. After 4 years in Maryland, Leslie made a huge career move and came to New York, where she has spent the past 5 years building a loyal following in Brooklyn. After a few attempts at finding a home, Leslie found Danka Panka and is a welcome addition to our great staff.
Leslie's easy-going personality, serious cutting skills, and beautiful color round out the talent here. Her dry cutting technique, which she has developed based on her own experiences with her diverse clientele, is refined, edgy and dramatic. Her approach to color takes into consideration client's wants, skin tone, and hair condition, as well as their maintenance and budget concerns.
Even when she was young, it was obvious that Rosa was destined to do hair. Rosa was never shy about cutting her own hair if it wasn't right and she frequently practiced on her friends. She began cultivating her passion for the industry after watching her mother at work, a stylist herself since the 1960's, and even showing Rosa how to cut hair on her Barbies. Unable to shake this penchant for the world of beauty she found her calling as a stylist and decided to go to school for cosmetology. There, she sharpened her already keen sense for hair cutting, and learned how to apply her love for chemistry and art theory to create a now well seasoned hair colorist. Soon after graduating she began an advanced apprenticeship for a Bumble and Bumble network educator in Albany, where she learned how to master the razor cut, blowouts, and dry cutting.
Nine years later, and licensed in both New York and California, Rosa has experience working with top stylists and educators on both coasts and has mastered a variety of hair-cutting and coloring techniques for both women and men (including corrective work). She has attended cutting classes at Bumble and Bumble (BbU) and completed color scholars for Goldwell of NY.
Inspired by the beauty she finds in films, fashion and the creative minds around her, she's always envisioning new techniques to use and education to attain. From classic to modern with an edge, she's known for her versatility and seemingly effortless ability to help clients find their own style that brings out the best in them.

Salon SACHAJUAN opened up in 1997 in Stockholm by Sacha Mitic and Juan Rosenlind, two highly recognized hairdressers with long experience of hairstyling / fashion in Sweden and abroad. Beside regular hands-on salon hairstyling their work has been seen through the years in several international fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Allure, Amica and GQ. The SACHAJUAN salon soon became one of Swedens hottest hair dressing spots and the creation of their own, exclusive brand of hair care products was a natural step forward in their success story.
In 2003 the first few SACHAJUAN Hair care products were introduced on the Swedish market to immediate acclaim. What makes the SACHAJUAN brand unique and interesting is simplicity and function in perfect harmony with high quality and innovation. This also reflects in very handy yet elegantly designed packaging. The brand has shown unparalleled growth and is today a well-established premium brand in the Scandinavian market, one of the most competitive hair care markets in the world.
The active ingredients and the technology behind the success of SACHAJUAN Professional Haircare is called Ocean Silk Technology. This is a technology where they extract valuable proteins and minerals from sea algaes, among them Enteromorpha Compressa, Himanthalia Elongata, Rhodophycea and Chondrus Crispus. They combine these with other tailor-made active ingredients to create unique results on different hairtypes. With this technology they create recipes that give the hair maximum shine, volume, stability and care without making the hair heavy. Regardless of hair quality you will notice immediate results with SACHAJUAN Professional Haircare.
Curator and owner Dana Menussi welcomes you to the Danka Panka
store, complete with irresistible gifts and personal items collected
from aorund the globe. The mostly handmade items range from clothing
to housewares to furniture to tiny treasures.
For over 20 years, Dana Menussi enjoyed a successful career as a professional fashion photographer. She is well known for her strong saturated colors, her use of location and interior design in telling a story, and her raw, graphic sensibility. Her work was featured in Harper's Bazaar en Espanol, The New York Times Magazine, Vogue Japan, Jane, Mademoiselle, Interview and Nylon Magazine. With an acute understanding of space, composition, color and light from her years in photography and an innate ability to envision an image and then realize it, Dana moved her talents from 2 dimensions into 3 and began her career in Interior Design. You will understand her esthetic the minute you enter Danka Panka (Dana's childhood nickname). Her mixture of calm, relaxing tones, warm, minimal finishing and pops of color which serve as an accessory to the space itself and change from season to season make the space feel inviting, calming and simultaneously stimulating.
